Feminists who “fought for the right to work” didn’t do so because they were restless sheltered princesses. they wanted to not be wholly economically dependent on the horrific men in their lives
Also the vast majority of women have always worked; all my female ancestors were maids or factory workers or nannies or did farm labor all while raising huge families of children and doing all the household labor and waiting on their husbands. But they weren’t fairly compensated for their labor and they didn’t have access to positions of power or influence and they didn’t get to truly “own” what little wages they had
