Literally the only reason TERFs are even so influential in the UK to begin with is because the ideology is a status symbol for a small gaggle of intellectually mediocre, but fairly wealthy and formally educated cis women, who have a disproportionate voice in academic institutions and the media thanks to nepotism and being well-connected, despite being literally the kind of person who gets into fights in twitter over how they think forcing your house cleaner to work during a deadly pandemic is actually feminism. The entire thing is basically astroturfed by the fact the most visible segments of the UK intelligentsia are a bubble of people who all went to the same boarding schools and have indistinguishable opinions on literally everything.
